1. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Overview

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a comprehensive data protection law that took effect on May 25, 2018, aiming to enhance and unify data protection for individuals and businesses within the European Union (EU). It safeguards various categories of personal data, including but not limited to names, addresses, ID numbers, locations, cookies, biometric information, racial and ethnic data, genetic information, health data, and IP addresses. GDPR replaces the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC) and emphasizes transparent data processing practices and user control over their data. While GDPR primarily applies to EU citizens, Servers99 extends GDPR compliance to all users irrespective of their citizenship or location.

2. Controller and Processor Roles

Under GDPR, a "Controller" determines the purpose and means of processing personal data of EU citizens, while a "Processor" carries out processing activities on behalf of the Controller. Servers99 acts as a Processor as it processes customer data based on their explicit consent and satisfaction, with customers serving as Controllers of their personal data.

3. Data Treatment and Security

Servers99 prioritizes the highest level of confidentiality and security for customer data, employing advanced encryption and stringent security measures to ensure data protection.

4. Hosting Personal Data Outside EU/EEA

EU customers can host their personal data outside the EU/EEA under GDPR, provided that adequate levels of data protection are guaranteed.

5. Compliance with Data Protection Laws

Servers99 complies with data protection laws, ensuring that any transfer of personal data outside the EU/EEA adheres to GDPR requirements and offers equivalent data protection standards.

6. Data Storage in the EU

Upon request, Servers99 can exclusively store all personal data within the European Union, requiring customers to acquire new servers within the EU and manually migrate their data for this purpose.

7. Data Center Locations

Servers99 operates a single but robust data center, the Servers99 Cloud Data Center, capable of meeting diverse business needs effectively.
